Rachel Alexander Calls Arizona Indictments of Trump Alternate Electors a ‘Deliberate’ Attempt to Influence 2024 Elections

Rachel Alexander, lead reporter at The Arizona Sun Times, said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ announcement that the State Grand Jury returned indictments to those who agreed to serve as a slate of alternate electors for former President Donald Trump had he won the 2020 election is “deliberate.”

On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted the 11 Arizonans who agreed to serve as a slate of alternate electors for Trump along with others involved in the effort to resolve election illegalities in the 2020 election, charging them with conspiracy, fraud, and forgery.

The named defendants in the indictment are Kelli Ward, Tyler Bowyer, Nancy Cottle, Jacob Hoffman, Anthony Kern, James Lamon, Robert Montgomery, Samuel Moorhead, Lorraine Pellegrino, Gregory Safsten, and Michael Ward.

Additional co-conspirators in the redacted indictment, as reported by The Arizona Sun Times, are likely to be Trump’s former attorneys Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Christina Bobb, and Jenna Ellis, his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, campaign advisor Boris Epshteyn and former campaign aide Mike Roman.

Alexander, well known for her reporting on election integrity and lawfare against conservatives, said the indictment is “reaching” regarding the charges brought against widely respected, patriotic leaders.

“There’s multiple felonies, there’s all of these revered, patriotic [individuals] from Arizona – Republican County Chair Kelli Ward, our amazing Senator Jacob Hoffman, amazing Senator Anthony Kern, Turning Point COO Tyler Bauer who’s the former Maricopa County Republican Chair,” Alexander said on Thursday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

“They are just reaching and reaching,” Alexander added.

Regarding the defendants’ defense, Alexander agreed with Leahy, who said it will take “an awful lot of money” to fight the charges, adding that fundraising for the defendants’ legal funds will ultimately take away money from Trump’s campaign.

“A lot of this is deliberate. As a lot of people keep pointing out, these guys are going to all need to fundraise for their defense, and it’s going to take away money from Trump’s election campaign and from other Republicans campaigning because everybody’s going to be donating to these criminal defense funds,” Alexander said.

When it comes to the Arizona Attorney General being indicted in a potential Trump administration for election interference, Alexander was not optimistic, noting how the Left controls the courts in the nation.

“When it comes to election fraud by Democrats, we just don’t get anywhere in the courts, any prosecutors that try to go after them. The judges are overwhelmingly controlled by the Left. They turn it around against us. They say that we’re the ones doing the malicious prosecution. Even if Trump gets elected, they’re going to find a way to turn it around because these judges are now dominated by the Left, even under a Trump administration,” Alexander said.
